It was my first participation to this race. I had been whiling to do it two years ago, but a bad fall and a dislocated shoulder kept me from entering the race in 2011.
Both, me and my friend Loïc registered very lately online. So we ended up on the last lines of our qualification round. You need to know that to get qualified in the Megavalanche race, you have to be in the 23rd first on a qualification round of 110 riders. The qualifications took place on the Friday.
The task of getting from the last position at the start to the 23rd wasn't easily done but we both managed. Loïc ended on the 21st spot of his quali, and I on the 23rd. It was close but I made it !!

We had a rest on the saturday, the race being on the sunday morning. But one of our friend was competing that day, and we went on the side of the trail to cheer him up.
On the morrow, we had to wake up very early, to get in the gondola with all our fellow riders. We were quickly placed in line and ready for the start.
Alllarmmmma !! The lines rise, but at the rear nobody's moving ! I decide to run alongside my bike, because trying to pedal in the snow is not efficient, and I want to go as far to the right as possible to avoid the camber of the slope.
I finaly manage to get out of the crowded pack of riders, I jump on the bike and hammer down the steep slope !
The snow part is a real success for me, as I got out of there in the first hundreds. I keep the pace on the track, over taking more people than people over taking me. The climb above l'Alpe d'Huez is a real torture, but I hold on. The final dusty and rooty track finishes my hands and arms off.
I pass the finish line in 92nd position ! I'm so happy and proud with that result !
This is the movie of my Megavalanche race, with the most interesting part being the glacier ! Enjoy.
